Terms of Use
These terms cover the Mizan app for Android and iPhone, made by Mizan Software. By installing or using the app you agree to them. They are short on purpose. How the app handles your data is set out in the Privacy Policy.
Your data is yours
Mizan stores your financial data only on your device. There is no Mizan account and no Mizan server, so we cannot see, restore, or recover your data. Keeping it safe is up to you: make encrypted backups if you want a copy, and keep your backup passphrase somewhere safe. A lost passphrase cannot be reset, by us or anyone else.
Premium, subscriptions and refunds
- Mizan has a free tier and a Premium tier, sold as a monthly subscription, a yearly subscription, or a one-time lifetime purchase. Current prices are shown in the app and on the pricing section of this site.
- Purchases are made through the App Store or Google Play and are charged to your store account. The store handles payment, renewal, cancellation and refunds under its own terms. Mizan does not operate a payment server and never sees your payment details.
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends. You can manage or cancel a subscription in your App Store or Google Play account settings. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
- To ask for a refund, use the store you bought from: Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com, or Google Play from your order history.
- A Premium purchase belongs to your store account, not to the device, so you can restore it on a new phone with Restore purchases.
Store terms
- iPhone: your use of the app is also governed by Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement. If anything here conflicts with it, Apple's agreement wins for the iPhone app.
- Android: downloads and purchases through Google Play are also governed by the Google Play Terms of Service.
AI features
- AI features are optional. If you connect a cloud AI provider with your own API key, your use of that provider is governed by its own terms and privacy policy, and any charges for it are between you and the provider.
- Mizan AI uses open models made by others (Qwen3 1.7B and Qwen3 4B Instruct 2507 from the Qwen team), which Mizan packages to run on your phone. The model files keep their own licenses (Apache 2.0), and those licenses, not these terms, decide how you may use or share the files. These terms cover the Mizan app, its name and its brand: please do not present a copy of the models, or anything built on them, as Mizan or as made by Mizan.
- AI answers can be wrong. Check anything important before you act on it.
Not financial advice
Mizan is a tool for tracking your own spending. Nothing in the app, including AI answers and budget suggestions, is financial, tax, or legal advice.
No warranty
We work hard to make Mizan reliable, but it is provided as is, without warranties of any kind. To the extent the law allows, Mizan Software is not liable for lost data, lost profits, or indirect damages arising from your use of the app. Nothing here limits rights you have under consumer law that cannot be excluded.
Changes
If these terms change, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated terms.
